There are some many different breeds of rabbit here are just a few
ANGORA
This is a fairly small rabbit. They appear round, like a ball. They are covered all over with long hair; the English Angora has tufts of hair on the tips of their ears and feet. The powerful back legs are longer than the front legs.
ARGENTE CREME
This is the smallest of the Angente breed. The under colour is orange and the top colour creamy white interspersed with long orange hairs
ARGENTE BLEU
A compact rabbit weighing about six pounds
An under colour of lavender and a top coat of bluish white
ARGENTE DE CHAMPAGNE
The actual colour is a silvery colour, the under colour is dark slate blue and the top coat is whitish blue shot through with black
BELDIAN HARE
They are very similar in looks to the hare, having a long, thin body, legs and ears. They are commonly red in colour.
BRITISH GIANT
A very large rabbit weighing 12.5lbs an over
The colours are dark steel grey, black, white, blue, brown, grey and opal
CALIFORNIAN
The colour is all white with black, chocolate, blue or lilac nose, ears feet and tail
CHINCHILLA
The under colour of the fur should be slate blue at the base, the middle portion pearl grey, merging into white and tipped with black. The whole of the pelt should be ticked with long black guard hairs
CONTINENTAL GIANT
This is a big solid rabbit giving an impression of power
DUTCH
The Dutch rabbit is a fairly small rabbit. They are compact animals with ears that stand erect. The powerful back legs are longer than the front legs. The Dutch rabbit is white with another colour.
ENGLISH
This is a fairly small rabbit. They are white with coloured spots on their ears and around their eyes. The ears are long and erect.
FLEMISH
The Flemish Giant rabbit are commonly steel grey in colour. They are long with a large full head and the ears are long and erect.
HIMALAYAN
This is a small, slender rabbit. They are very striking in their markings. They are white with red eyes. The face, ears, feet and tail are coloured. They have a long, pointed head and the ears are erect.
LOP
English Lop - They have the largest ears of any rabbits. which is bred in a limited variety of colours, the most popular being sooty fawn. Others are black, fawn and marked varieties of these colours
French Lop -This is the giant of the Lop breeds. These rabbits are very heavy and cobby with wide, bold heads. Their ears are between 30 to 38cms long (measured from the tip of one ear to the tip of the other ear), making them considerably shorter than those of the English Lop.
Dwarf Lop - Probably Britain's most popular pet rabbit, the Dwarf Lop is a surprisingly big rabbit. Contrary to the name, it is not actually a dwarfed rabbit, rather a smaller version of the larger French Lop.
Cashmere Lop - A small, longhaired, compact rabbit. The ears are long, floppy and delicate. They are carried down close to the cheeks.
NEATHERLAND DWARF
They are very small rabbits. Their bodies and faces are round and their ears are very short Their eyes are big and bright.
NEW ZEALAND
The New Zealand Red - A bright golden red with a slightly harsher coat than the other colours
The New Zealand White - This was first bred in the USA for commercial purposes. Nowadays it is bred for showing and is a consistent win
POLISH
This rabbit is a fine, slender rabbit with long legs. They got the name Polish because they have a shiny, glossy coat, which appears as if it has been polished.
REX
All the Rex varieties are of the same type, a graceful rabbit gently sloping up to well rounded hindquarters
